"The mission of Midwest Christian Services is to supply needs; physical, spiritual and emotional
for the residents and staff through Christian training and environment."

About Us

Midwest Christian Services is located on a sprawling campus, amidst a rural landscape which enhances the treatment atmosphere. MCS started with 4 children and a set of House Parents back in 1963. The facility was named Midwest Christian Childrens Home (MCCH). It consisted of the old Brooke School , gymnasium and the White house. In 1992, as we continued to grow, the facility we call the Brick house was built. Two years later the name was changed from MCCH to Midwest Christian Services (MCS).

In 1995 adversity struck, as a tornado leveled the original Brooke School building, which is where the offices were located. The offices were temporarily moved into the gymnasium until the existing office building was completed in 1997. During this time significant program changes were made and we became an all "adolescent boy" facility.

As the new century rolled around in 2000, we continued to upgrade and make lives better. In 2004, we were hit with adversity again, as a fire caused extensive damage to the White house. We persevered and fixed it back up. Both houses have been extensively remodeled in the last 5 years. In 2013 we built our picnic shelter area, followed the next year by a walking/biking trail. We continued our upgrade of this area by adding a cabin in 2015 and bathrooms / showers in 2018. Also during this time period we had all of the floors refinished in our gymnasium.

Our vision forward

As we work into the next decade, we continue to update and improve. Currently we are installing all new insulation and siding on the original gymnasium. This summer we plan to paint the rest of the exterior siding / roofing to match. A new sidewalk / entry area, as well as, a new retaining wall has been built in front of the office building.

Our facility is small and we are very proud of it! We try to keep it as updated as possible so we can continue that dream from 1962 of making a "home away from home" for those that need it.

Our employees make us who we are. We are thankful for each and everyone of them!

History

In 1962, a group of men from the Church of Christ began talking about opening a home for children who needed a "home away from home". Dreams came true! MCS was established in 1963 in the old Brook Township School.

Many changes have taken place through the years! We are constantly updating in our quest of "Building Better Lives".
